Publication details
The results of the National Research Programmes “Energy Turnaround” (NRP 70) and “Managing Energy Consumption” (NRP 71) are summarised under the title “National Research Programme Energy”.
The synthesis “Geothermal Energy” on the joint project “Hydropower and geo-energy” of the National Research Programme “Energy Turnaround” (NRP 70) summarises the results from the three sub-projects “Deep underground heat reservoirs”, "Deep-heat mining” and “Risk governance for geothermal and hydro energy” in the field of geothermal energy and draws conclusions and recommendations for action from the findings. The synthesis also incorporates findings from the Swiss Competence Centre for Energy Research - Supply of Electricity (SCCER-SoE), which is very closely linked to the joint project "Hydropower and geo-energy" in terms of personnel and the topics it addresses. This has led to considerable synergies during the course of the project.
This synthesis makes a scientific contribution to the opinion-forming process, the political and specialist debate as well as the planning of strategies and measures for the transformation of the energy system against the backdrop of Switzerland’s Energy Strategy 2050.
Responsibility for the results of the research projects lies with the respective research teams. The joint synthesis “Geothermal Energy” is the responsibility of the two authors. Their assessments and recommendations for action do not necessarily have to correspond to those of the research teams, the echo group, the members of the NRP 70 and NRP 71 Steering Committees or the Swiss National Science Foundation.
